Make #NationalCoffeeDay Every Day

Happy Tuesday! I hope you’re all enjoying the #NationalCoffeeDay freebies! I know I am – I just headed to Dunkin’ Donuts and got a free medium iced coffee – easy! I was certainly not the only one to know about the deal. The line was long, but it moved fast.

Unfortunately, #NationalCoffeeDay can’t be everyday, so I can’t get free coffee every day. That being said, I waste SO much unnecessary money on iced coffee. I’m addicted. I always tell myself that I should be making it on my own, and doing some research really confirmed that. This seems SO easy.

Join me in making your own iced coffee! Don’t be intimidated. FrugalBeautiful makes iced coffee easy with their recipe that I found this morning. I’m inspired!

Things you need:

  • Coffee grounds of your choice
  • A jar
  • A strainer

Directions:

  • Measure our 6 ounces of coarsely ground beans with 6 cups of cool or cold water. Use a large pitcher, or a mason jar, combine, and seal. Shake the mixture to make sure the grounds don’t lump together.
  • Leave your coffee mixture out for a few hours (overnight, if you can)
  • Strain the mixture, preferably with a strainer, or even a coffee filter
  • Pour over ice and add your milk/sugar of choice!
  • Store any leftovers in the fridge.

Truly that easy – I need to try this! I can’t imagine how much money I’d save.

Step Up Your PUMPKIN Game With Dunkin’ Donuts

Tell you what – nothing makes me more ready for fall than pumpkin ANYTHING. I am a total sucker for the entire pumpkin marketing scheme and this post proves it.

According to mediapost.com, Dunkin’ Donuts jumped on the pumpkin trend pretty early on with products like pumpkin spice donuts + pumpkin muffins in 2003. Over the years, they’ve come to incorporate pumpkin iced coffee, hot coffee, lattes, donuts, Munchkins donut holes, muffins, k-cups, and even packaged coffees. Seems they have pretty much pumpkin’d about everything, so they’re stepping up their game with this years marketing scheme!

This week, Dunkin’ Donuts is hosting “Pumpkin Peeks” where the first 500 guests to 6 strategic locations (original restaurant in Quincy, Massachusetts, units in Santa Monica and Culver City, CA to commemorate their 1-year anniversary in California, and 3 top pumpkin ordered chains, Biddeford, Maine, Norwich, Connecticut, and Hyde Park, NY) will be offered a FREE hot or iced pumpkin coffee, along with other pumpkin-themed giveaways. If you live close to ANY of these areas, get to your local Dunkin’ Donuts and capitalize on this!

In addition to this, and especially if you aren’t in one of these areas, Dunkin’ is running a “PumpkinGrams” promotion, where fans can post about their pumpkin coffees and lattes on Twitter and Instagram, using #DDPumpkin and #Sweepstakes – qualifying them for chances to win digitally delivered Dunkin’ gift cards.

Keep an eye out, everyone! Pumpkin menu items are being introduced over the next two weeks, and will be available nationally by August 31st. FALL IS COMING!

Reusable Keurig Cups

Now there’s an idea! Although a Keurig machine is already a budget way to get your daily caffeine intake instead of running to the nearest Starbucks, you can make this even MORE budget friendly.

Groupon Goods is running an incredible deal today for Ekobrew Reusable Filters for Keurig machines.

With it, you get two reusable filters, that you can fill with the ground coffee of  your choice – from wherever you want, for however much you want to pay. You can use this just as you use Keurig cups and then reuse the filter next time.

Not only is this a  budget idea, but environmentally friendly too!

HiLine coffee is giving away 10 free pods. They boast that “fresh coffee is the best coffee”. Apparently, your typical k-cup is packaged and sold to you without ‘roast dates’ – they could be months old, which obviously affects the taste.

HiLine sells exclusively online, which allows them the guarantee of the freshest pods delivered right to you.

With your free sample, you will be enrolled in their monthly service for 20 pods ($16.99/month). That being said, you can cancel the service at any time + there is a ‘love it, or your money back, guaranteed’.

My Starbucks Rewards

My Starbucks Rewards, aka, my lifeblood.

As much as I try to make my own coffee at home, a Starbucks coffee on the go is both unavoidable and unrivaled! All you have to do is register a gift card (who doesn’t have these lying around from holiday stocking stuffers?) and earn a ‘star’ per purchase. You can achieve different levels depending on your frequency of purchase, but every 5 stars = free refills, and after 30 stars, every 12 stars =1 free drink or food item. Not a shabby deal if you are a frequent Starbucks drinker.

My favorite part of the reward program? A free drink of ANY SIZE or a food item during your birthday month! Pretty great, and I’ve used it for two years straight now!

They also send you deals throughout the month – BOGOs, special deals for special times, etc. available only to rewards programs users. VIP Status!

Download the app today – why not?
